Home for Now

We have arrived in South Carolina for language school! Russian classes begin on Monday morning at 8:30am. We have already been working on our homework for Monday...which was given to us just 3 days ago---we are hitting the books hard. We arrived on Wednesday afternoon a little discouraged at our living arrangements, but over the past few days we have worked on making the house work for us. We have been cleaning, rearranging, and making it our home for 2 months. The Lord has provided though and He is continually reminding us to trust Him and letting us know that He is with us. Adalynn is having a harder time adjusting to sleeping during the day, but she has done wonderfully through the nights, which we are so thankful for! Mom Gormong flew in last night in Charlotte! We all went to greet her at the airport! She was a joy for weary souls last night! We are thankful that she is here with us for the next week as we begin school and adjust to our new life. Please be praying for us this week as we begin classes. We went to the school Thursday afternoon...our expectations were slightly off as what to expect of the school, but we believe we are here to learn and gain more about Russia no matter the disappointments.

You all are a blessing to us! Thank you for your encouragement and prayers. Please help us be able to get 75% financially funded by July! We are at 55% right now and need a little over $48,000 more in faith promise commitments. Click on BECOME A FAITH PROMISE GIVER on the right to join our team financially.

Blessings,
Philip, Kara, and Adalynn

Florida

We had a wonderful time in Florida with our family! We also enjoyed spending Wednesday evening with one of our supporting churches, Brooksville Wesleyan! We spent the evening sharing about our call to Russia. Before leaving we were able to spend time with old missionary friends of Philip's family from back when Philip's family were missionaries to Zambia! It was a wonderful and encouraging time to be with these amazing people. Thank you Brooksville for welcoming us and encouraging us! We are blessed by your support

Blessings,
Philip, Kara, and Adalynn

A trip to FLORIDA!

We are headed to Brooksville Wesleyan Church in Brooksville, FL in just a few days! We are actually taking a vacation with Philip's family to Bradenton, FL. Next Wednesday we will drive about and hour and half north to Brooksville. We are looking forward to spending Wednesday evening with one of our supporting churches! We have been blessed to be a part of this church's group of supporting missionaries. This church's congregation is made up of some retired Wesleyan missionaries, a few who know and served on the Zambia field with Philip's family back in the day! We are also excited to be able to spend some time with some of these dear family friends.
Philip and I have been looking forward to this trip for some time! Not only are we excited to be in Brooksville, but we are thrilled for a brief time off to spend with family! Philip's sister and her family (husband and daughter) will be joining us in Florida! Thursday we drive to Wilmore, KY to pick up them up, and then Friday we venture to drive through the night to meet Philip's parents in Florida! Pray for our safety and for a relaxing time before we head off to language school at the beginning of June!

Blessings,
Philip, Kara, and Adalynn

West Virginia

This bridge is the bridge that led us into the state of West Virginia! Philip, Adalynn, and I traveled to Weirton, WV this weekend for a missions convention with Chapel Hill Wesleyan Church. It was a great weekend! We enjoyed the time spent with the pastor and his wife in their home. Friday night we met the congregation by enjoying a variety of different Russian food with them! We had a chance to share with them about ourselves during this time. Saturday morning we met a few people from the congregation for breakfast at a local restaurant. We enjoyed a breakfast buffet, and had some time to share prayer requests. That evening we shared a little more about our call and about Russia. This morning, Sunday, we enjoyed Sunday School with the young adults. Then, Philip shared with the congregation about the need in Russia, and more about our passion for the Russian people. We are still waiting to hear about the Faith Promise commitments, but we did have over 10 people join our prayer partner team. Thank you for your prayers!
Thank you, Chapel Hill Wesleyan, for a wonderful and encouraging weekend!

The Body of Christ

We are so blessed by our home church, Faith Wesleyan! Not only are we supported by this church, but we are continuously encouraged by the members of this church. We are truly surrounded by the Body of Christ.
Wednesday night was the usual Prayer and Praise meeting (at 6:30pm if you care to join!). During this particular night there was time taken aside to spend time praying for Philip and I as we are getting ready to leave for our 8 week Russian Intensive in South Carolina. There are so many changes that we are about to face, but with the Lord, we can face them without fear. We were surrounded by prayer for this ministry, for language school, for Adalynn, and for our family. It meant so much to us to know that people are praying and putting forth effort individually to help us get to Russia. Again, I am reminded that the Lord, who is FAITHFUL and good, has called us to this ministry, and He will NOT fail us.

Thank you for your prayers.

Blessings,
Philip, Kara, and Adalynn

Going, Going, GONE!

We are on the road again! (No, Adalynn is not driving...) This time we are in Ohio headed to West Virginia to be with Chapel Hill Wesleyan Church for their annual missions conference! We will be introduced to the congregation tonight as we fellowship with people over Russian food! On Saturday we will enjoy lunch out with some of the congregation along with a presentation that evening. On Sunday we will do our main presentation and the call to faith promise giving. Oh, how we are not only praying for a large faith promise giving response, but also for the Spirit of God to be present during this entire weekend. Philip and I have a lot on our hearts and minds this weekend as we are preparing to leave for Florida in a few days as well as packing and getting ready to leave for language school in 2 weeks. We are praying that the Lord will use this weekend to refresh us, encourage us, and use us as we share about the burden of the Russian that is in our hearts. Will you join with us as we ask the Lord to be at work this weekend? Pray for the anointing of His Spirit to be upon Philip as he speaks and working on hearts in the congregation.
We appreciate you, your prayers, and your efforts in helping us spread the need for the Gospel message of Jesus Christ to Russia.

Blessings,
Philip, Kara, and Adalynn
