More Pictures of Vladimir

So, it's not the best picture of our family, that's for sure, but we didn't have anyone to take our picture! This is our first family picture in Russia...too bad it isn't better:)! Oh well!

Assumption Cathedral

This cathedral is a very old and was once the main church of Vladimir principality. It has changed a lot in appearance over the years because of various things that have happened such as fires and invasions. When we were there, we saw a couple who had just gotten married. She was in a wedding gown, which was totally dirty by the way since it was dragging on the dirty ground! It looked like it was just family attending, but neat to see anyway! We had fun taking pictures and seeing some more sights of Vladimir. It was pretty chilly, so we didn't stay too long. We headed to the mall and ate some lunch and had some coffee. Then we headed home. It was a fun Friday!

Russian Culture Video

Russian Culture

Philip and I had a great opportunity to experience some of the Russian culture last night! We went with our field directors to a Russian Folk Concert! It was amazing! The people are so talented! It was neat to see the culture/heritage of the Russian people. We dropped Adalynn off at our field director's house where there was a babysitter who watched Adalynn and our field directors' daughter. It was kind of like a double date! We took the bus two stops and went to the theater. After we checked our coats in we headed to the balcony, where our seats were. Great view! The concert was full of singing, dancing, and music by the instrumentalist. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening! I hope you enjoy some of the pictures and short videos (in post above)!

Holiday in Russia

Today is Defender of the Fatherland Day, or better known as International Men's Day. This holiday is a national holiday, so many people got this day off from work. International Men's Day celebrates people who are serving or were serving in the Russian Armed Forces. Now it is a celebration of men as a whole acting as a counterpart to the national holiday, Woman's Day, which is March 8th.
Well, Adalynn and I celebrated Philip today as the man in our lives! We bought him this cool touristy looking Russian shirt! hahah!!! I knew it was kind of cheesy, but I kind of liked it. It would have been cooler if it had said Russia in actual Russian!

Blessings,
Philip (the man of the day), Kara, Adalynn, and baby Gwen
