Lucky Ticket

Apparently there are some super superstitions that people like to believe here in Vladimir. One of them has to do with bus tickets. Whenever we take a bus or trolley we pay...buses are 12 rubles and trolleys are 11 rubles. Well, when you pay, you get a ticket. I have never really looked at my bus tickets...I just make sure I get one! I remember reading on Kerry's blog (another GP missionary here) about the lucky tickets...well apparently I got one today! I was with Kerry this morning and we were riding the lovely number 8 trolley (which got stuck in the snow for a few minutes). Kerry handed me my ticket and said I had a lucky one. (I think she was being kind by giving me the lucky ticket...maybe she knew I needed something to blog about!) How is this ticket lucky, you ask? Well, if you want to try to figure it out go to Kerry's blog and ready her game about figuring it out. (Scroll down on her page until you see the entry about BUS TICKETS)
(DO NOT read anything under this next picture because I am going to tell you how it is lucky---but please come back and read the rest of the post when you are done being smart!)

You can see that my ticket is lucky because it is blue. Haha, ok just kidding it is not that easy! You have to add the first 3 numbers together (0+7+9=16) and their answer (16) has to match the addition of the last 3 numbers (5+2+9=16)! Lucky, lucky, lucky me!

So, what must I do now that I have a lucky ticket? I have to eat the ticket, yes, eat the ticket and make a wish. Of course my wish is going to to come true! I'll let you know how many tickets I have eaten by the time I return back to the States!

Blessings,
Philip, Lucky Lou Kara, Adalynn, and baby Gwen

  1. Well, I thought it had something to do with adding #s on the ticket; but didn't guess the sum of the first three = to the sum of the last three.
    How did it taste?!
